Young Geographers
Join the RGSQ Young Geographers for our second social catch-up and table topic discussion of 2025 with a picnic at New Farm Park. We'll meet at the Coffee Hut kiosk at 9am for anyone who wants to grab a hot/iced beverage or snack and then choose a shady spot to set up the picnic blankets under the beautiful New Farm Park fig trees.
This month's table topic discussion is on corporate responsibility in social and environmental sustainability. The table topic discussion series is a new initiative for anyone seeking to be more engaged with current ideas and events in geography through readings and discussions. This month, rather than set specific reading suggestions, we wanted to leave the topic open and see the diversity of information everyone brings to the table. If you'd like to be involved in the discussion, pick an angle that you're interested in and read up on it to share with the group. Keep note of one or two specific articles so we can compile a further reading list at the end. We're keen to hear what you find out!
We'll have some picnic blankets and snacks to share but please feel free to bring along anything you'd like to share. If you're down for a social catchup but aren't keen on structured fun, no worries. The table topic discussion is an opt-in system so if that's not your thing there will be plenty space to chat with others about whatever else takes your fancy.
Coming along to Young Geographers events is a great way to catch up with geography-loving pals you haven't seen in a while and make new friends in Brisbane. Our events are specifically designed for students and early-to-mid career professionals in geography to meet, grow and build community. But if you're not a geographer, don't stress. Regardless of your background or job, if you have an interest in learning more about the places, people and the environment that make up our world, you're always welcome to join us.
