Map Group Presentation

Map Group last visited the Brisbane City Council Archives a few years ago and the BCC Archives welcome us back again.  This is an “in the field trip” to Unit 15, 107-123 Muriel Avenue, Moorooka.

They have a large collection of maps and documents relating to the history of Brisbane.  Too much to detail here so just be excited and surprised on the day.

As this is not being held at RGSQ premises, a little logistics are involved.  We attend the BCC Archives from midday to approx. 2.30 pm.  Parking is very limited at the Archives so we will meet at the Bliss On Riverside café, ground floor of the multi-story accommodation building opposite the Tennis Centre complex, 101/197 King Arthur Terrace, Tennyson.  From there we will car-pool to and from the Archives.

As we wish to depart the Tennis Centre for the Archives by 11.30 am, if you wish to have a cuppa/lunch beforehand please arrive at the Bliss On Riverside café by 10.30 or earlier.  There is a car park at the western end of King Arthur Terrace and a few parking spaces along King Arthur Terrace.  The carpark is a 10 minute stroll to Bliss On Riverside café.

If you plan to come to the Tennis Centre by train, hop off at Yeerongpilly Station and it is about 1 kilometre/20 minute walk to Bliss On Riverside café along a good foot walkway.

Once we have nominations for the outing and we have an idea of where folks live, we may plan car-pooling from the north side of Brisbane to make things easier for travel.

Please note we have a limit of 15 participants so book early.

Cost $5.00 member, $15.00 non-member. Register and pay via the website
